Volume Calculator Formula & How It Works
- Rectangular prism (box): l × w × h
- Pyramid: ⅓ × base area × height
- Ellipsoid: 4/3 × π × a × b × c
- Torus: 2π²Rr²
Volume measures the 3D space enclosed in cubic units. Most formulas derive from the prism formula (base area × height). A cylinder is a circular prism; a cone is 1/3 of a cylinder. The sphere formula (4/3πr³) comes from integration. Real-world applications: fluid storage, packaging, construction material estimation.
