What is the Age Calculator?
An age calculator computes the exact elapsed time between your date of birth and today (or any date you pick) — broken down into complete years, months, and days. This is the same chronological-age convention used on official forms, exams, and job applications in India and most of the world.
Beyond the headline number, this tool shows your age in total months, weeks, and days — and counts down to your next birthday. It correctly handles leap years and variable month lengths, which simple mental math gets wrong.
Age Calculator Formula & How It Works
- Years: complete years elapsed
- Months: complete months after the last birthday
- Days: days after the last complete month
The calculation borrows from the calendar exactly like long subtraction: if today's day-of-month is smaller than your birth day, days are borrowed from the previous month's actual length (28-31 days); if months go negative, a year is borrowed. This is why two people born 30 days apart can differ by '1 month' or '30 days' depending on the months involved.
